The Dominica Calypso Association Calypso Monarch show, which will be held on Saturday February 2, 2008, will see seven (7) of last year’s competitors in this year’s finals. Tarina who is only three years in the calypso business, Singing Sandy who has made it every year since returning into the competition, Daddy Chess a former King (2001), De Webb can be considered a fairly new comer, veteran De Observer who has won two crowns (2002 & 2003), Hunter who won last year and Dice (2004, 2005 & 2006) who was defending his crown and on the verge of setting a record but lost to the King Hunter who is also a past King. Before wining in 2007, previously won in 1998, 2000. The seven (7) who were in the 2007 Monarch competition will have fight-off the veteran Scrunter (former King 1991, 1992 & 1995), Sye who many felt should have been in the final year and the Caressa another veteran in the calypso business. |
